Yet the more I read about Sri Ramana, you see a man whose life was on public display for nearly 55 years for 22 hours a day and a man who was extrordinarily humble. He silenced more minds with his thundering silence and showed extrordinary extraordinary compassion. His teachings are consistent with advaita and independent of Shankara since his teachings in the early part was before his reading of Shankara and his teachings. For those of you impressed by UGs anti-guru rantings (debunking himself also) note that Ramana refused to be considered as a guru in spite of several claiming awakening in his presence. Often in silence and occasionally in words, he consistently refused that he had any extraordinary powers to visit individuals in their sudden visions or treat any one who visited him though numerous claims were made to that effect. (If Osho was truthful in his claim that UG was unimpressed with Ramana when he first met him because Ramana was slicing vegetables, UG missed the routine anti-guru behavior of Ramana. They live and walk among us today! Although his language sometimes left something to be desired, and he appeared to be bitter or grummpy at times, disconcerting as always in conversation, and even alarming with his talk of the Body.
