as you, UG, no tears will fall.
as you, UG, no desires for you, or me.
not as you, UG, I go on--
at least for now.
round and round.
like the whole we are a part of,
harmonious with,
if you can let go of thought.
and love, and materials, and material spiritualism.
just round and round,
like the universe, like me.
and like your ashes.

For a person who taught about pure love, why did he not offer that love to a special woman, apart from the other people and things in his life? is there not a contradiction here in his teachings?

UG was just himself.

That seems to be very rare in this world.

Almost everyone wants to be something other that what he is.

Crazy world indeed.

I don't see the use of meeting JK or UG.

They didn't have anything that we don't have. (As both of them have assured us)

I think (in my view) UG's criticism of JK can be summerised -

JK - 'JK remained a teacher' and tried to save the world.

UG - 'a true guru is one who free's you from himself' and did not try to save anybody.

We can't argue with U.G.So we think he is far above us- Super-enlightened ? So we want to be like him, because that must be the ultimate pleasure! The very contradiction to his "teaching".
I never understood his criticism of JK. He seemed to have some ufinished business there? But man I would have loved to meet both of them.

I will be doing great injustice to UG when I write something because he did not want to be remembered at all. But you see, I just want to be part of the this great man. I got to know UG only about 3 months back and the impact he has made is something undefinable. In a very short span I read and saw most of the audios and videos from his website. How I wish I had met him. But I keep meeting him often seeing his videos and audios. Hi to you UG !! I will try and forget you UG !

I really wish that i could have met UG during his last years. But after having heard
his talks for so long it really does'nt matter. I must say that UG's words can affect your whole way of thinking. I keep coming back to his words again and again. But , to really understand him requires tremundous courage on our part. I'm still a coward...

Every teacher has his place, and everyone else has also his place. UG clearly took away some of my cherished beliefs. As "Enlightenment" is the dropping of all beliefs, I can only say that this man helped me. He also pointed out that we should not make him into a hero. So there is no need to overwhelm him with praise. Making him a hero, is denying our own strength.

He may have gotten off the merry go round (most of the time), that only shows that we can do it too.

To be enlighted? It isn't about to get anything. It is in a ______ way to get rid of whats not you and even get rid of that. Just say it in your own words, like UG did.

Reject all the roles that come up in your mind and just be. Reject all the good and useless suggestions coming from outside. Do you have the nerve for doing that? Can one just be whats left, when everything else is dropped? What might be there? You'll never know until it is.

You will be surprised.

Thank you UG. I read almost all of the things you said. I'm pretty sure you would reject me, damn me and turn me down. So, no need to see you.

Thank you people for writing down and publising the speeches of UG.

The more I read about Krishnamurthis (J and UG), Osho, Yogananda, Aurbindo, etc etc, it seems they were all on a spiritual journey but did not reach the destination. Yet the more I read about Sri Ramana, you see a man whose life was on public display for nearly 55 years for 22 hours a day and a man who was extrordinarily humble. He silenced more minds with his thundering silence and showed extrordinary extraordinary compassion. His teachings are consistent with advaita and independent of Shankara since his teachings in the early part was before his reading of Shankara and his teachings.

For those of you impressed by UGs anti-guru rantings (debunking himself also) note that Ramana refused to be considered as a guru in spite of several claiming awakening in his presence. Often in silence and occasionally in words, he consistently refused that he had any extraordinary powers to visit individuals in their sudden visions or treat any one who visited him though numerous claims were made to that effect. (If Osho was truthful in his claim that UG was unimpressed with Ramana when he first met him because Ramana was slicing vegetables, UG missed the routine anti-guru behavior of Ramana. He got up routinely at 3am to cook for every one, along with others.)

If you have not, I suggest all of you to read more about the biography of Ramana and his teachings. He is the only one I wish I had met in person.

Best wishes.

I discovered UG in 1998 but I learnt more about him in 2003. I have read most materials written on him and seen his videos. I even tried once to meet him but didn't work out. He had a big impact on my life. That impact is hard to describe but those of us who are fans of UG know what I mean.

I am not saddened by his death. I feel very fortunate to have discovered this man in this lifetime. It is a blessing in my opinion. I think what UG talked about was real life.... no abstractions, no beliefs, just pure and simple truths.... it was hard hitting at first, sometimes felt like this can't be it, because our mind can't accept it.

Message to UG: Thanks for everything. Safe travels!

well now that both Krishnamurtis are gone I can only delight in the fact that all those things written in old books about "Sages" is true!!! They live and walk among us today!
Although his language sometimes left something to be desired, and he appeared to be bitter or grummpy at times, disconcerting as always in conversation, and even alarming with his talk of the Body.
Although he never appeared to be "agreeable" and you couldn't put your finger on the guy....I'd rather have his sort than the jappa-chanting business schools that are so prominent.

Response to Ganesh and Hatton,
UG denied everything including himself. By denying him, you are sounding like him and making him laugh. And to those who love him, you will be doing a great disservice to the man by edifying him and making him another GOD.

When I first read UG's stuff it destroyed my "spiritual" life and put me on the road to living an ordinary if cynical but happy life, for that I am thankful. That being done, whether he's a hoax or not doesn't matter much to me, the job was done, as it may equally well have been by a good novel. So he's talks did affect me deeply, I can't help feeling moved, visiting the site after 10 years out of curiosity at what had become of him.
