prayer is the greatest miracle in the world, because prayer means trust, love, surrender. It means all that is valuable. Prayer is not just repeating a formula; it is a pouring out of the heart. Prayer gives a different quality to your being. It is not that by praying you change god’s mind; there is nobody like god as a person and there is no such mind as god’s mind.
People who pray try to change the mind of god; they are ill and they would like to be healthy, so they want to change the mind of god, but that is not true prayer. The true Prayer is that which changes you, not god. God is irrelevant, god is just an excuse, a device: the real thing is that the prayer changes the one who prays. When you are praying you are no more the same person.
The ordinary mind continuously doubts; in prayer the doubt is relaxed, the gestalt changes, you start trusting. The ordinary mind always thinks negatively; in prayer you move to the positive; the pendulum moves from one polarity to another. The ordinary mind is always desiring, hankering, groping in the future; in prayer the future disappears, you are utterly herenow. This moment becomes your totality, and in that very totality something, a door that has remained closed forever, opens up.
To pray means to trust in miracles, to pray means that things are possible without your doing anything at all. To pray means that you need not go anywhere and all can come to you, wherever you are. To pray means that the existence has not abandoned you; you can still call it forth. It has mothered you, it is not indifferent to you. In short, prayer means believing in the impossible before breakfast! And when you believe in the impossible, it happens.
When you believe in the impossible you have created the situation for it to happen; it was only impossible because there was no belief. Because the trust was not there it was impossible; now trust makes all things possible. Trust knows nothing is impossible.
Love and lots of it ; Dear ones

a nice heart touching post suresh really great
Suresh,
I have read a lot about the power of prayer, there are even some stuedies on it.
However in my experience it has never worked that much.
In the state of the mental silence, where I am beyond thoughts, desires and hopes, where i am dissolved into the bliss – there is nothing I can ask for…
Axinia
My prayer is also silence. to me to be silent, to be aware and to be in meditative state is the greatest prayer you can offer to divine. general linguistic explanation of prayer is more of wish fulfillment and asking for something. the real prayer is nothing but the deepest acceptance of present moment!
I never pray but I am in prayer most of the time.
I cannot sit still for a moment……prayer and meditative silence is proabaly a distant illusion for me!
Just being happy for no reson is also greatest prayer you can offer!
Suresh – I like your statement – just being happy is a prayer! I am going to remember it for ever.
We keep searching when we don’t see ourselves what is inside us and out.. Prayer can be different to many. To me its an art of speaking from your heart where no one can hear your inner voice.
From WISDOM magazine, I remembered following words about Prayer.
“Prayer is not a begging to God, It is a window. A window through which light of God shines; which spread happiness and courage to our life”
Another thing I read was about scientific, as Suresh already points that Prayer is under study and research. Where there were trying to say that, “If Massive people pray together, the transmission prayer signals everybody transmits affects much better than Individual”
At Last, I do believe in prayer and I agree that Prayer is nothing but some still silent moments where you can connect with yourself!
beautiful! simply beautiful.
peace and blessings.
Suresh!
What an excellent post! I have been struggling with prayer issues lately, especially about its relevance since God is consciousness and so are we all; we are all responsible for our own consciousness experiences on this earth plane. God does not favor one person or situation over another, so why pray? Your post gave me some good answers. Thank you!!!
yep,I realy fund a new such expierence abt silence praying and emosions,de first of all, tht is righ God does not favor one person or situation over another, but de nearment of de god(Allah)is to way to worship,de more you pray2god de more he loves with u roght?
and I do praying anytime anywhere and more sutisfy de way I’m believing in ‘Islam”
I’m at the point in my life that I just don’t know about any thing that has to do with god or anything else.I believe a lot of people go to church ever Sunday to make them feel better or to look good to other people, there are people that go to church because it makes them look better to others.Who know what is really out there? I had once read a book that prayer is good but he put it like I never heard before. He said in all our future is a huge massive ball of energy and what we say think or pray for our life for our future we put into this huge mass of energy. If we think and put out Negatively in our lives then that is what we make for our future but if all our thoughts and prayers for our lives is Positive then that is what this massive of energy makes for our future. Now there is no time set on any of this, you but understand that. we must just live your own way and shape your own future.
I hope the best for all you and this whole world of ours because with the way things are going we all need help in one or another.
