When I was young I used to walk a long way to school. I used to stop at a large grown Mango tree on my way. I used to stop by to attend nature call, Mango tree was my road side toilet. I used to think I did a great favor to this tree by pissing on it. after all I was giving water ( OK! it was not so clean but nevertheless…)
Years later when I grew up little more, I loved the same Mango tree as I was capable of stealing mangoes by climbing, I felt Mango tree is paying back my favor of pissing by giving me sweet mangoes, I thought I deserve it & I took it for granted.
Years later In my teenage, I loved the mango tree base. I used to use it as a camping fire base with my friends. I used to get old dry branches for camp fire and To light a smoke with friends. I thought this mango tree is good place to spend time with friends and I can use it for dry wood. I had a utility from mango tree.
Years later in My youth I used mango tree as Romantic hide point. I used it to spend a quite time with my friend. I felt the shadows under the tree are loving and compassionate. I thought this mango tree is full of love and It is so romantic.
Years later I showed the tree to my daughter to tell her My journey and how much i learned from it. I was overjoyed when my kid ate a mango and I told to myself this tree must be a tree of joy.
Years later my daughter has grown and i am grown in awareness and I look at the tree and feel energy throbbing in its branches, leaves and fruits. I feel peaceful and aware under its shadow. I feel this tree must be the tree for enlightenment.
My mango tree never changed, over the years it remained the same. Its that I kept on changing and I felt what I reflected. I guess that’s all we need to know, Everything we feel and conclude first concluded within us. Only in awareness we see the reality. All our relationships, success, failure, anger, greed, happiness is by product of what we are inside. Once our Inner view changes then everything else also changes externally. This world is nothing but a mirror reflection of your views. once you change something inside you then something outside you also changes.
Meditation is art of learning the reality. Meditation is art of cleaning dust gathered on your eyes to see with clarity. Meditation is a way of knowing everything that is happening in this planet is also happening inside you. Meditation is art of knowing that which never changes.

Suresh

Dear Suresh,
You’re right. Sometimes we feel and see the world from our inner perception; Many times I felt that even the place is beautiful but If I am not happy from inside, I would not love it. But If I am happy from inside, I would also love the place of garbage.
I just want to write one sentence that I read from Robin Sharma’s Book: “You see the world not as it is; but as you are”
Thank you very much!
I stumbled on your blog thru my friend melissa,
I managed to read lot of your blogs but I think i need to spend lot more time here.
My problem with most of the spiritual writers is that they preach from book, either they represent a religion or some beliefs. it is strange that most spiritual blogs are either christian or hindu or some beleif system. Ia m glad you are not like one of them.
First time I read a blog which never talks about any releigion or belief, I searched all your blogs for some trend or some beleif system. I could’t find any. Also you choose to touch day to day ordinary subjects really makes me feel you are one among us.
Hats off to you for building such a beautiful ocean. I enjoyed your brilliant photography and outstanding writing. Blogs write so much rubbish, you say so little but convey so much.
I also noticed whatever you say, you end up with meditation. such a beautiful way of concluding things. I don’t want to sound like a fan spamming but i am overjoyed at your photos and writings
and yes whatever I felt inside i wrote same here
Thank you verymuch
yes I know we keep changing our views about so many things like this
what you have said about the Mango Tree is wonderful it is amazing you
were able to take your daughter also to the tree wonderful
our opinion about people also changes as you grow this is what happens
due change in you and the way you look at the world
Once I’d gone to chennai when I was younger and after a series of unpleasant incidents (just to give an idea – including an auto driver tearing my five rupee note and throwing it down swearing and spitting on the ground!). I was convinced it was such a lousy city full of people trying to exploit me for money. Went to the same city a few years later, and everyone seemed to be so helpful and polite, and when I went to the embassy for my visa and they didnt allow my bag in, I could just trust some shopkeeper who kindly agreed to keep my bag for me till I returned. Later on time and again whenever I visit chennai I feel so much at home! Really whenever I reflect on this I find it amazing wondering what exactly had changed – surely it couldn’t have been the whole city – and reading this post it was nice to remember it.
It really reflected Herman Hesse’s words “You only experience that which is within you.”. Maybe this is what JK meant by mirror of relationship – when he said “Relationship is a mirror in which you can see yourself, not as you would wish to be, but as you are.
Was glad to read the happy ending where your mango tree survived onslaughts of electricity board (which loves to chop down trees) and other dangers!
Indeed, so does the child’s perception of his parents changes.
He needs them when he is a kid
He hates them when he is a teen
He avoids them when he is an adult
He considers them nuisance after he gets married
And then the paradigm shift occurs (hopefully)
Suresh, dear, what can I say? – nothing, only enjoy in silence…What a wonerful fable, I love your art! as ever.
